This classification of plastic fabrication is based on the capabilities of the plastic to be molded into the desired shape at the temperature and pressure conditions. The plastic which can be remolded is called thermoplastic. They have a unique structure that makes it easier for them to be soft, melted, and molded repeatedly. Conversely, that was setting plastic cannot be remolded again.

Plastic Welding- Similar to the welding method, it combines two workpieces by creating a molecular bond between them. In the case of plastic welding, there are three main stages:

Film material is usually used to fuse two types of plastic. The material creates an adhesive bond between the two, thereby joining them together. This is usually used in cases where the melting points of two plastic are different. 

Compounding – this method is also known as the blending technique. In this case, the different plastics or combined using additives to create a bond. Once done, the plastic is formed into different parts using molds or other shaping tools. The objective of this method is to create material that is easy to process and can Match the required specifications. In this case, some common examples include bass raisins, blowing agents, and purge compounds.

Plastic Lamination- In this method of plastic fabrication, the plastic is held together, creating a barrier on the surface of another material. This enhances the durability and aesthetics of the product. However, there is a downside because it needs more maintenance. 

Plastic molding- As you can infer from the name, molding means reshaping the plastic into desired shapes. There are different types of plastic molding which are discussed below. 

Injection Molding- in this case, melted plastic is injected into the mold and is allowed to cool down till it opens the shape of the movie. It is one of the most versatile methods and can be used to create large parts of auto motives and even smaller parts like surgical equipment. 

Rotational Molding- it is also known as rotational molding and is used to make hollow parts. This method uses rotational movement to coat the area inside the mold with heated plastic. Compared to the above method, the cost of rotational molding is lesser. There is less waste material in this case; hence, it is considered a more viable part. This method is usually used to make toys and automotive parts. 

Blow molding- this plastic fabrication method involves heating the plastic and transferring it to a mold. In this method, the tubes of plastic called Parsons are heated, and this heated material is then transferred to a mold. It is used for manufacturing bottles and fuel tanks.
